ALAMO CUTS CHECK-IN TIME BY UP TO 50% AND CELEBRATES 20 YEARS IN EUROPE AT WTM 2008

2008 marks the 20th Anniversary of Alamo Rent A Car in Europe and at this year's World Travel Market the company is highlighting its developments in this region and is demonstrating its focus on speed, convenience and choice to enhance the rental experience for leisure travellers worldwide. Two industry leading initiatives for European travellers to the US - Save Time and Kiosks – will offer travellers the opportunity to cut check-in time by up to half when they arrive to collect their vehicle.

Alamo is not only celebrating 20 years in Europe but we're launching some really innovative developments so that customers traveling to the US not only skip the line to get on with their rental up to 50% faster through Save Time and Kiosks, but have an outstanding choice of vehicles to rent. Our customers may start their journey once they get in their car but our focus is on ensuring the journey from reservation to rental is as smooth and simple as possible.

Save Time
Save Time lets customers pre-register their personal details online after they have made their initial reservation, eliminating the need to provide this information at the rental counter thereby ensuring a speedier service when they arrive to collect their vehicle.

Customers are required to provide their Driver's Licence details and personal information. They also have the option to supply their flight details and any preferred frequent flyer information and add additional driver information, select insurance options, child seats, GPS units and fuel options.

Self-Service Kiosks
In addition to Save Time, Alamo is rolling out Kiosks to European customers travelling to the United States. Alamo's self-service kiosks were a first for the rental industry when they were launched to US domestic customers in 2006. Since then over one million self-service kiosks rental transactions have been completed.

The user-friendly self-service kiosks enable customers to skip queues at the rental counter and check in directly. After a customer with a valid driver's license and a major credit card agrees to terms and conditions, a receipt-sized rental agreement summary is printed at the kiosk, and the customer is directed to their rental car. At the exit, the customer shows the agent the rental agreement summary, driver's license, and credit card – and simply drives away. Alamo's kiosk also allow customers to review rental information, upgrade to a larger class car, add drivers, and purchase option items such as a GPS unit and prepaid fuel.

159 kiosks are currently in operation at 65 US locations in 28 states.

North American Fleet
Alamo's extensive fleet will also be a talking point at this year's WTM. By 2009, Alamo will boast the largest fleet in North America with over 1.2 million* vehicles, offering travellers even more choice from over 10,000 locations. One of the youngest fleets in the industry, vehicles have an average age of less than 6 months ensuring a quality drive for holidaymakers.

The scope of the fleet will ensure that even the most discerning tastes are catered for. Vehicles are grouped from compact up to a new range of SUVs, convertibles such as the PT Cruiser and other premium vehicles such as the Cadillac DTS offering an unrivalled choice to those looking for the ultimate American road-trip. A fleet of 4,000 hybrid, electric and fuel efficient vehicles, including the Toyota Prius will also be made available for travellers to the US.

European Developments
Alamo has gone from strength to strength in Europe over the last 20 years and is represented in 42 countries, with the recent branch openings in countries such as Romania, Bulgaria and Albania. Alamo is also now operating from the largest car rental location in Europe. In close proximity to Heathrow Terminal 5, the new 3.4 acre site on the Perimeter Road is the most innovative rental site in Europe. Alamo also continues to grow its global network with a presence in 67 countries with recent openings in New Zealand and Australia.
