These Terms and Conditions form the contract for the prepaid booking of a vehicle with Alamo (the 'booking contract'). The contracting parties to the booking contract are Alamo Rent-A-Car UK ('us' or 'we') and 'you' the customer that has made the prepaid booking. Alamo Rent-A-Car UK Limited is a limited liability company established under the laws of England with a registered office at Enterprise House, Vicarage Road, Egham, Surrey TW20 9FB with a company registry number of 2946689 and a VAT number of GB 641634450. We provide a reservation system for all of our affiliates and their franchisees and licensees that operate under the Alamo brands (collectively referred to in these Terms and Conditions as "Alamo"). The details of your prepaid booking are as set out in the email confirmation sent to the email address you provided at the time of booking.
Cancellation and Cancellation Charges
You do not have a right of withdrawal from the booking under EU law; however, you may cancel your booking at any time for any reason by following the instructions on our website. You will receive a full refund of the total amount of the booking if you cancel your booking 3 days or more before your specified pick up time.
If you cancel your booking less than 3 days but at least 24 hours before your specified pick up time, we will refund the total amount of the booking minus the lesser of: i) the total amount of the booking; and ii) £25 for UK residents. If you cancel your booking less than 24 hours before your specified pick up time, you will not be entitled to a refund of your booking.
The refund due to you will be made to the credit card you used to make your booking.
We reserve the right to cancel a booking at any time upon notice but only for good cause, such as an event of Force Majeure affecting availability of vehicles; a breach of a rental contract by you including a failure to pay any balance due for rentals; harassment or other abusive behaviour towards employees or customers of Alamo, it affiliates, licensees, and franchisees; or your fraudulent activity. For this purpose, Force Majeure is defined as storms or weather conditions, earthquakes, floods, or other acts of God, war and armed conflicts, transportation strikes or other events or conditions beyond the control of Alamo which results in a shortage of vehicles at the rental branch specified in the booking. In the event of such cancellation, we will refund the total amount of the booking.
When booking your vehicle please ensure the dates and times entered are correct. If your circumstances change and you require the vehicle on different dates/times, please modify your booking by following the instructions on our website.
You may modify your reservation online at any time up until 12 hours before your specified pick up time. We do not charge a modification fee but the new booking will be at prevailing market rates. Within the last 12 hours before pick up, you may not modify your booking.
No-shows - late and early arrivals
For non-airport bookings - A vehicle will be held for 2 hours after the specified pick up time. After this time we cannot guarantee that a vehicle will be available upon your arrival.
For airport bookings - If you have included a flight number with your booking, a vehicle will be held until the flight has landed and cleared. If a flight delay results in your arrival after the branch closing time, a staff member will wait for the flight to land and clear. If the delay is in excess of 1 hour after the branch closing time, an out of hours?? fee may apply. If you have not included a flight number with your booking, we will hold a vehicle for a period of up to 2 hours after your specified pick up time or until branch closing time, whichever is earlier.
If you arrive at the rental branch 1 day or more before the date shown on the booking, we may not have a selected vehicle available. The rental branch will honour your booking subject to the availability of the selected vehicle.
If you fail to collect a vehicle on the specified pick-up date or if a vehicle was unavailable due to your late arrival as provided above, you will not receive a refund of your booking.
Unused Rental Days
Any unused rental days or options on prepaid bookings are non-refundable.
The booking contract is a contract to ensure that the selected vehicle class is available to you for rental at the time and location specified in your booking subject to these Terms and Conditions. It is not a contract for vehicle rental services. The rental contract between Alamo and you for the use of the vehicle during the rental period will be exclusively entered into at the time you pick up the vehicle at the relevant branch location and will be entered into by the relevant local Alamo entity, affiliate or franchisee, will be subject to local standard terms and conditions in effect at the time and place of the rental, and will be subject to the law of the place of rental.
Minimum Age Requirements
To complete the booking process, you must provide your age to verify compliance with any minimum age requirements. Your booking will include any extra charges related to age restrictions for the rental location in your booking
Cross Border Policy
If you intend to drive the rental vehicle cross border to other countries, please contact the rental location before making your booking to verify any cross border restrictions. You can find the contact details for your rental location on the website.
License and Document Requirements
All drivers must have a valid driver licence in effect at least one year (or more according to the renting country and the car category) prior to the rental start date and present it at the rental counter at the commencement of the rental. A valid major credit card must also be presented at time of rental
Limitation of Liability
We, Alamo, and our respective officers, directors, employees and agents of each such entity are not liable for any delay in providing or failure to provide a vehicle if the delay or failure resulted from an event of Force Majeure as defined above and are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses resulting from the booking and prepayment, our breach of these Terms and Conditions, or our negligence unless such damages were foreseeable as an obvious consequence of our breach or were contemplated by you and us at the time we entered into the booking contract.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation or for breach of any implied warranties that cannot be excluded by law.
These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between us and you in respect of the prepaid booking of a vehicle. You acknowledge that by entering into this booking contract you are not relying on and that you will have no remedies in respect of any statement, representation, assurance, or warranty that is not set out in these Terms and Conditions.
We may assign our rights and obligations under a booking contract to another organization but this will not affect your rights under these Terms and Conditions. You may not transfer your rights or your obligations under these Terms and Conditions. The booking contract is between us and you. No other person shall have any rights to enforce its terms.
If we fail to insist that you perform any of your obligations under these Terms and Conditions or if we do not enforce our rights against you or if we delay in doing so, that will not mean that we have waived our rights against you and will not mean that you do not have to comply with those obligations. If we do waive a default by you we shall only do so in writing.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction in respect of any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions and/or any booking contract. However, if you are a resident of Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland or Scotland, you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
We will not file a copy of the booking contract between us. You should save or print a copy of these Terms and Conditions for your records. You will receive an email confirmation of your booking.
This is a summary of the key facts you should know when hiring a vehicle, which will help you understand what will be included in your rental agreement.
The rental agreement will be entered into at the time and place of vehicle hire between you and our affiliate or franchisee of the Alamo Rent A Car/National Car Rental brand that operates the branch location (referred to as “the Rental Company”). You should always read your rental agreement in full before signing it. You can view the rental agreement in your renting country at the time of your rental pickup.
Unless you purchase a waiver or protection product or one is included in your reservation as specified above, you are responsible to the Rental Company for theft or any damage to the vehicle during the full period of your vehicle hire. This is true even if the accident was not your fault. You are liable for loss of revenue if the vehicle cannot be rented because it is damaged or stolen, a reasonable claims administration fee, diminishment of value, and for any towing, storage or impound fees of the vehicle. Unless third-party liability protection is included in your rental as provided below or is purchased by you, you are also responsible for injury or damages to third parties.
Please note your liability for damage extends until the vehicle is checked in by the Rental Company. Unless otherwise provided in the rental agreement, if you return the vehicle after the Rental Companies business hours, you will remain responsible for any damage or loss in accordance with the rental agreement until the Rental Company reopens and conducts the post-rental inspection.
Your rental agreement will include the following protection products:
Collision Damage Waiver
CDW waives or reduces the renters responsibility for loss of or damage to the rental vehicle (including but not limited to towing, storage, loss of use, administrative fees and/or diminishment of value) subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement and applicable laws.
CDW is not insurance. The protection provided by CDW may duplicate the renters existing coverage. Alamo is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renters existing coverage; therefore the renter should examine his or her credit card protections, automobile insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the protection provided by CDW. Renters will be responsible for excess ranging between 750 EUR and 1150 EUR depending on the car group.
Theft Protection (TP) reduces the customers loss or responsibility to the excess / deductible amount in cases of theft. The excess for Theft Protection (TP) ranges from 750 EUR to 1150 EUR including VAT.
You have the following optional protection products available for an additional charge:
Collision Damage Waiver Super
An additional protection option in the form of Collision Damage Waiver Super cover or top cover is offered to partially to totally waive the already limited liability in cases of damage to the rental vehicle, its parts and accessories, including those losses resulting from collision, vandalism or attempted theft, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Note: purchase of Collision Damage Waiver Basic cover is mandatory when renter opts to also purchase super cover or top cover. When the rate includes CDW, the renter by means of Collision Damage Waiver Super cover or top cover has the option to purchase additional protection to partially or totally waive the excess/deductible amount of CDW Collision Damage Waiver in cases of damage to the rental vehicle, its parts and accessories, including those losses resulting from collision, vandalism or theft or attempted theft, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Super Cover (SCDW) does not cover roof, tires and windscreens, broken/loss keys or contamination of fuel. Top cover (SCDW2/SCDW3) does not cover broken/ loss of keys or contamination of fuel. Super cover and top cover can be purchased at time of reservation or at time of pick-up and is not available for customers on corporate contract rate rentals unless there is a corporate account number present that indicates that this option is applicable.
Roadside Assistance Protection
Alamo rental locations provide Roadside Assistance to the customer. This service is handled by ANWB Roadside Assistance. This service is available 24/7. Road assistance covers free towage in the case of accident. Further information specific to roadside assistance including the 24/7 assistance telephone number will be provided at the time of rental. Roadside Assistance is provided with the rental in case of mechanical breakdown not due to driver negligence of wilful misconduct.
Personal Accident Insurance
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) at this branch is EUR 9.00 per day. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, PAI provides the renter and passengers with cover in case of accident or death. The purchase of PAI is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by pai may duplicate the renters existing coverage. Alamo is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renters existing coverage; therefore the renter should examine his or her personal insurance or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by PAI.
SUPPLEMENTAL LIABILITY PROTECTION
All the vehicles in the enterprise fleet are insured against bodily injury and property damage that you might inflict on a third party as a result of an accident involving the vehicle. The amounts for such liability cover are available on request. In particular, you must comply with the rule concerning permitted destinations, as set out in the - General Car Rental conditions of Enterprise Rent - A - Car NL - in order to have the full benefit of the insurance provisions.
This rental does not include equipment products.

Your rental will be subject to the following minimum requirements:
All car groups are available for all renters aged 18 and over with the exception of car groups Fullsize, Premium and Luxury which are only available to 25 year old renters and above.
Forms of Payment
VISA, AMEX, Mastercard and Diners Club credit cards are accepted. Cash payments, Travellers Cheques and Euro Cheques are not accepted. Rental reservations made in Europe only: Maestro(bank debit card-pin) is accepted as form of payment for Mini, Economy, Compact, Intermediate and Standard categories. An international valid credit card is always required for the deposit (determined by rental amount and other relevant charges + the applicable excess amount) which will be held on the credit card until the vehicle is returned.
All drivers (including additional drivers) must produce at the time of rental a valid driving licence, two proofs of address, photographic identification (passport and drivers licence) and a major credit card (American Express, VISA, Mastercard) in their own name. The driving license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 12 months before the date of the commencement of the rental. Multiple part licence holders must produce all parts. International driving permit required with all non European licences if the driving licence is written in a language and/or in characters different to those of the renting country. Proof of address e.g. utility bill, credit card or bank statement, must be no more than three months old. Please note, we reserve the right to request additional id or conduct further identification checks if needed. This may include an identity check with external partners who may check details supplied against databases to which they have access.

Cross Boarder Policy
Cross Border Policy: It is allowed to use the vehicle only in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Vatican City.
If the vehicle should be taken outside these listed countries please obtain Enterprise prior written consent.
Some restrictions may apply with respect to:
- loading the vehicle on trains, boats, ferries or similar means of transportation.
- taking the vehicle from the mainland onto an island.
- taking certain types of vehicles across borders. you are advised to check at the time of reservation.
Mileage charges if applicable will be quoted in the Rental Summary at time of booking
You will be required to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel provided, pre purchased fuel options maybe available. Please ask on arrival if required
There will be an additional charge of eur 4.00 per day EXCL VAT per rental for each additional authorized driver other than a spouse or deomestice partner. Full rental conditions apply for all additional drivers
You will be responsible for the following additional charges or liabilities if incurred:
- Additional rental charges for changes you make to the booked rental vehicle, rental period or optional products
- Damages, theft or third-party liabilities not covered by a protection product
- Any fines or penalty charges relating to the operation of the vehicle during your rental period, such as parking or speeding fines, plus reasonable administration charges
- Rental charges for late returns
- Any legal fees incurred collecting any payments due under the terms of the rental agreement
- A reasonable collection fee if a vehicle is not returned to the original rental office
- The cost of cleaning the vehicle if you return the vehicle in a dirty condition
When you complete the rental agreement you will be required to present a valid credit or debit card as security for any charges incurred during your rental. Your signature on the rental agreement will pre-authorise the Rental Company to charge the card for future payments that become due. The Rental Company may also hold a deposit against these future liabilities. In the country of your rental the deposit amount varies.
