Age Requirement
Below are Alamo's policies on age requirements:
- The primary renter of the vehicle must be 21 years of age.
- Rental rates may be higher for renters aged 21 - 24.
- Certain specialty and larger sized vehicles may not be rented to younger drivers.
- Some locations maintain maximum age limits.
- All renters must have a valid driving licence.
- Alamo reserves the right to refuse hire of a vehicle, if the renter demonstrates inability to handle road rules and conditions.
Please refer to the terms below for deviations to these terms specific to certain countries.
Exceptions
| Austria
Minimum Age is 19. No maximum age limit. Restrictions apply on vehicle types booked for ages 19-24.

| Canada
Minimum age requirement is 21 years of age. An underage charge is applied to reservations for renters between 21 and 24 years of age. Restrictions apply on vehicle types booked for ages 21-24.

| Cyprus
The minimum rental age is 23. The maximum age is 75. There is no under age fee.

| Germany
The minimum rental age is 21 years. Additional fees apply for 21-24 year olds. Restrictions apply on vehicle types booked for ages 21-30. If a young driver is an additional driver, charges will apply.

| Greece
The minimum rental age for Mini, Economy and Compact car groups is 23. For the Intermediate group the minimum age is 25. There is a maximum age of 71 years.

| Guam
The minimum rental age is 18. There is no maximum age limit. There is no under age fee.

| Ireland
The minimum rental age is 24. Maximum age is 74. Restrictions apply on vehicle types booked for ages 24 - 26. An underage fee applies per day of rental for drivers between 24-26. The minimum age of driver holding an Italian, Spanish, Portuguese or Israeli license is 30 years. Maximum age limit is 74 years

Minimum Rental age is 24. There is no maximum rental age. There is no under age fee.

| Italy
The minimum rental age is 19. The maximum age is 75. Restrictions apply on vehicle types booked for ages 21-24.

| United Kingdom
Minimum rental age is 25 years for car groups Standard and Fullsize, 23 for car groups, compact and intermediate
21 years for car groups Mini and Economy.
A young drivers surcharge applies as follows:
21-22 years GBP 14.00 per day plus VAT, 23-24 years GBP 9.95 per day plus VAT. There is no maximum charge.
There is no upper age limit except at Pembroke, and Carmarthen where the age limit is 75 years. Plymouth, Exeter, Newquay Taunton, , Wigan, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich the upper age limit is 70 years.
