Cash, Renting with
Customer must meet Alamo's requirements for renting a vehicle without a credit card. All cash rentals, including prepayments, vouchers and the like will require a deposit. When the rental vehicle is returned in accordance with the rental terms and conditions, the cash deposit will be refunded at the time of rental and in some instances, the refund will be mailed to the customer following the return of the rental vehicle.
Please see below for requirements pertaining to rentals in the United Kingdom:-
- A return ticket from an airline, cruise or train is not required when renting in the UK, if you are a UK resident.
- Cash rentals are not permitted if the renter is age 21 - 24
- No cash accepted on Sundays
- The renter must have funds to cover excess and fuel prepayment
- Phone references must be provided.
In addition to the above, rentals in the UK require photo identification by either a driving licence and counterpart OR old style full driving licence and one of the following, confirming address:-
1. Evidence of place of employment
2. Building society deposit book/statement
3. TV licence
4. Bank statement
Please see below for requirements pertaining to rentals outside the United Kingdom:-
- Advance reservation required (walk-up customers cannot rent with cash)
- Valid driving licence.
- At least 21 years old (please see age requirements for detail by country of rental)
- Return ticket from airline, cruise, train
- Verifiable phone number in the name of the renter.
- Verifiable employment.
- Make a cash deposit in addition to the cost of the rental.
- Valid passport
Cash rentals are not permitted in the following countries:-

- Antiga
- Argentina
- Australia
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bosnia and Hertzegovina
- Corsica
- Costa Rica
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Denmark
- El Salvador
- Finland
- France
- Honduras
- Hungary
- Ireland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Malta
- Mexico
- The Netherlands
- Nicaragua
- Norway
- South Africa
- Spain
- St Maarten
- Turkey
Qualifying renters who do not have a credit card and have a prepaid rental must leave a cash deposit at the time of rental and have three forms of identification for the following countries:-
- Germany
- Greece
- Guam
- Mauritius
- Norway
- Portugal
- Switzerland (on request at time of reservation only)
Exceptions
| Canada
In Canada, only customers on a pre-paid tour or renting on corporate accounts that have negotiated the option to use cash are allowed to use cash to qualify for a rental. The following are required: verifiable proof of employment, verifiable home/cell phone and/or utilities in renter's name, verifiable return transportation ticket. A deposit of $50 per rental day may apply.

Cash rentals are permitted in Guam only if CDW is purchased.

| United States
A $50/day deposit, with a maximum of $200/week will be collected in addition to the pre-calculated rental charges. New York (Manhattan): $100/day deposit with a maximum of $500/week in addition to the pre-calculated rental charges, all in the form of travellers cheques or money orders only, no cash. The refund will be mailed to the customer following the return of the rental vehicle. Connecticut locations: $500/day in addition to the pre-calculated rental charges. The refund will be mailed to the customer following the return of the rental vehicle. Cash will not be accepted at all US locations, please enquire at the time of reservation.
