Cancellation Charges

We will not charge for reservations cancelled 7 days or more before your pick up time. If you cancel your booking after this time, the following charges apply:

• If you cancel your booking less than 7 days before pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £20 whichever is the lesser.
• If you cancel your booking less than 24 hours before your pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser.

In the event of a cancellation, your credit card will be refunded, less the above charge.

No-shows & late or early arrivals

Your vehicle will be held for 2 hours from the specified reserved time. After this time we cannot guarantee a vehicle will be available upon arrival.

For all airport bookings, however, where a flight number has been supplied the vehicle will be held until the flight has landed and cleared. Where a flight delay results in a customer arriving after the station closing time a member of staff will wait for the flight to land and clear. If the delay is in excess of one hour after the station closing time an out of hours fee may apply. Where no flight number has been supplied we will hold the vehicle for a period of up to 2 hours or until station closing time, which ever is the earlier. Staff will not wait beyond closing time where no flight number is supplied.

When booking your vehicle please ensure the dates entered are correct, if your circumstances change and you require the vehicle on different dates/times please amend your reservation online.

Customers who arrive 1 day or more early at our rental stations with a reservation that does not match the current date will not be able to use the reservation reserved online. The branch may be able to offer an alternate reservation but please note the rates will not match the online reservation.

If you fail to collect your car on the specified pick-up date, we reserve the right to charge a no-show fee of either the cost of the booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser. In the event of a no-show, your credit card will be refunded, less the no-show charge.

Unused Rental Days

Please note that any unused rental days on prepaid reservations are non-refundable.

Rules and regulations - check before you travel

If you are planning to drive to abroad, you will need to be aware of your responsibilities to follow driving laws in your destination country. We strongly recommend you make your own investigations before travelling.

Driving abroad in Winter conditions

Whilst driving abroad in winter conditions, legally some countries will have restrictions on the equipment a vehicle should carry or have fitted, this can include snow tyres. Whilst driving abroad its important to adhere to the driving laws in that country. Failure to do so could result in a fine or temporary loss of your vehicle. Snow tyres and snow chains are available to hire for an additional fee and must be requested at time of booking. For online bookings where the pick-up country specified requires snow tyres a charge will normally be added to your reservation and these will be fitted to the vehicle. However, if you are planning to drive cross-border please check country requirements and request equipment be added to your reservation where appropriate by contacting our Call Centre.

We strongly recommend you make your own investigations as to whether or not you will require any additional winter equipment before travelling abroad. The RAC website (www.rac.co.uk/driving-abroad) provides additional information and tips on driving abroad.

Denmark

Additional Driver Policy

Additional driver's fee is DKK 76.00 per driver per rental, excl vat. Rental conditions apply to all additional drivers.

Age Requirements

Minimum rental age is as follows: 23 years: MCMN (Mini), ECMN (Economy), CDMR (Compact), CCMR (Compact), EDMR (Economy), CWMR (Compact Wagon-Estate), IMMR (Intermediate), DXMR (Compact Elite), DCMR (Compact Elite), DWMR (Compact Wagon-Estate) and JMMR (Intermediate Elite). 26 years: IDMR (Intermediate), SDMR (Standard), DDMR (Compact Elite), CWAR (Compact Wagon-Estate), RWMR (Standard Elite), SDAR (Standard), SMMR (Standard), RDMR (Standard Elite), IWMR (Intermediate Wagon-Estate), SWMR (Standard Wagon-Estate), SWAR (Standard Wagon-Estate), SMAR (Standard), FVMR (Full Size Pax Van), GVMR (Full Size Elite Pax Van), SVMR (Standard Pax Van), LVMR (Luxury Pax Van), WVMR (Luxury Pax Van), PVMN (Premium Pax Van), PVMR (Premium Pax Van), CDAR (Compact), LVAR (Luxury Pax Van), FVAR (Full Size Pax Van), IVMR (Intermediate Pax Van) and JVMR (Intermediate Elite Pax Van). 28 years: MBMR (Mini), PDMR (Premium), PWMR (Premium Wagon-Estate), LDAR (Luxury), PDAR (Premium), LEAR (Luxury), XSAR (Special Sport), LWAR (Luxury Wagon-Estate), XDAR (Special), IFMR (Intermediate 4x4), CXAR (Compact), MTMR (Mini Convertible), SFAR (Standard 4x4), LCAR (Luxury), UTMR (Premium Elite) and UEMR (Premium Elite). There is no maximum age limit. Young drivers surcharge is DKK 76.00 per rental, excl vat, for drivers between 23-25 years (Inclusive). Please note: the young drivers surcharge will only display as per day, so the price for this will be corrected at time of pickup if applicable. 

Cross Border Policy

Cross border is allowed to all Western European countries (except UK & Ireland) and at no extra cost. Driving into Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, former USSR and former Yugoslavia is not allowed. Insurance is not valid for any damage or theft in these countries and the customer will be liable for the costs in these cases. If driving into Sweden or Norway, from November to March, it is mandatory to book Snow Tyres. Please be advised that due to a change in law in Germany, it is mandatory for all vehicles crossing the border into Germany to have winter tyres fitted during the Snow & Icy conditions. Customers will be fined on the spot if they are stopped by police and found to not have the appropriate winter tyres.

Delivery / Collection

Delivery and collections are permitted within a 10km radius from the centre of Copenhagen to company and hotel adresses at a cost of 360.00 DKK, plus vat. An additional 8.00 DKK plus VAT applies for each additional KM over 10km. Also available out of hours - On request only. Full driver ID and payment details are mandatory.

Insurance Excess

Collision Damage Waiver & Theft Waiver limits the customer's financial responsibility for loss, damage or theft of the rental vehicle. The maximum excess that is payable in the event of one of these incidents is 1,500 DKK. The maximum excess will vary depending on the vehicle you are renting, please ask at time of rental for further information on which excess applies.

License Requirements

Customers must present a full and valid driving license which has been held for a minimum of one year. The rates are not valid for Danish residents as they are based on tax free cars. For booking as Danish resident please visit www.nationalcar.dk Should your driving license not be resident to the country of origin of your booking we reserve the right to charge an appropriate rate for your country of residence.

One Way Rentals

Domestic One -Way Rentals are available between all locations at a cost of Dkk 360 + vat (Dkk 450 incl. Vat). The only drop which is not charged is Copenhagen DT to Copenhagen Airport and vise versa. International one ways are permitted - please refer to the IOWP grid.

Out of Hours Policy

Out of hours pickups and returns are available on request at Airport locations only. There is no after hours charge.

Payment Policy

All major credit cards are accepted (American Express/Diners Club/Mastercard/Visa). National chargecards are accepted. Cash rentals are not accepted. A credit card is always required for deposits, and the deposit is held on the card until the vehicle is returned. The deposit required on an inclusive product is approx 3,000 DKK higher than the full rental cost and the deposit required on an exclusive product is between 15,000-20,000 higher than the full rental cost and is dependant on the car type booked. Two credit cards are required when renting the following car groups: PDMR (Premium), PWMR (Premium Wagon-Estate), FVAR (Full Size Pax Van), IFMR (Intermediate 4x4), LCAR (Luxuary), LDAR (Luxuary), LEAR (Luxuary), LWAR (Luxuary Wagon-Estate), LVAR (Luxuary Pax Van), MTMR (Mini Convertible), PDAR (Premium), SFAR (Standard 4x4), UEMR (Premium Elite), UTMR (Premium Elite), XDAR (Special), XSAR (Special) and one of the credit cards presented must be either an American Express or Diners Club card and must be in the same name.

Refuelling Policy

Alamo/National will supply you a car with a full tank of petrol. Customers must return the car with a full tank of petrol or refuelling charges will apply.

Roadside Assistance

The station of pick up or our National HQ in Denmark is to be contacted in case of assistance. Both telephone numbers are mentioned on the rental agreement.

Special Equipment

Child infant seats - CSI ( 0-12 months of age or up to 13 kilos) - 100.00 DKK per rental. Replacement amount is 500.00 DKK. On Freesale. Baby Seats - CSB (1 - 3 years or 9 - 18 kilos) - 100.00 DKK per rental. Replacement amount is 500.00 DKK. On Freesale. Baby seats (CSB) cannot be loaded into the system - if required, please add to the remarks on the reservation. Child toddler seats - CST (4 - 7 years or 15 - 30 kilos) - 100.00 DKK per rental. Replacement amount is 500.00 DKK. On Freesale. Child booster seats - BST (under 135 cms or up to 12 years) - 100.00 DKK per rental. Replacement amount is 500.00 DKK. On Freesale. GPS navigation systems (NVS) are available on freesale at a cost of 76.00 DKK per day, with a maximum charge of 2,560 DKK per rental. Replacement amount if GPS is damaged or stolen is DKK 5,000. GPS is available for domestic one way and return rentals in Denmark only. Snow tyres (STR) are available on request at a cost of 60.00 DKK per day up to a maximum cost of 1800.00 DKK per rental with a 48 hour lead time. Snow tyres are available for all car groups. Snow chains (SNO) are available on request at a cost of 200.00 DKK per rental with a 48 hour lead time. Replacement amount is 500.00 DKK. Snow chains can only be booked if snow tyres are also booked. Snow chains are available for all vehicles from 1st November to 31st March. Reflective jackets are not required by law but are available in Denmark if required. According to the Danish Road Traffic Act, winter tyres are not mandatory. If driving to Sweden and Norway from November to March, Alamo/National Denmark require their customers to reserve Snow Tyres. All costs are excluding vat.

Surcharges

Airport fee is 316.00 DKK per rental, excl vat, at all airports in Denmark.
