Cancellation Charges

We will not charge for reservations cancelled 7 days or more before your pick up time. If you cancel your booking after this time, the following charges apply:

• If you cancel your booking less than 7 days before pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £20 whichever is the lesser.
• If you cancel your booking less than 24 hours before your pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser.

In the event of a cancellation, your credit card will be refunded, less the above charge.

No-shows & late or early arrivals

Your vehicle will be held for 2 hours from the specified reserved time. After this time we cannot guarantee a vehicle will be available upon arrival.

For all airport bookings, however, where a flight number has been supplied the vehicle will be held until the flight has landed and cleared. Where a flight delay results in a customer arriving after the station closing time a member of staff will wait for the flight to land and clear. If the delay is in excess of one hour after the station closing time an out of hours fee may apply. Where no flight number has been supplied we will hold the vehicle for a period of up to 2 hours or until station closing time, which ever is the earlier. Staff will not wait beyond closing time where no flight number is supplied.

When booking your vehicle please ensure the dates entered are correct, if your circumstances change and you require the vehicle on different dates/times please amend your reservation online.

Customers who arrive 1 day or more early at our rental stations with a reservation that does not match the current date will not be able to use the reservation reserved online. The branch may be able to offer an alternate reservation but please note the rates will not match the online reservation.

If you fail to collect your car on the specified pick-up date, we reserve the right to charge a no-show fee of either the cost of the booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser. In the event of a no-show, your credit card will be refunded, less the no-show charge.

Unused Rental Days

Please note that any unused rental days on prepaid reservations are non-refundable.

Rules and regulations - check before you travel

If you are planning to drive to abroad, you will need to be aware of your responsibilities to follow driving laws in your destination country. We strongly recommend you make your own investigations before travelling.

Driving abroad in Winter conditions

Whilst driving abroad in winter conditions, legally some countries will have restrictions on the equipment a vehicle should carry or have fitted, this can include snow tyres. Whilst driving abroad its important to adhere to the driving laws in that country. Failure to do so could result in a fine or temporary loss of your vehicle. Snow tyres and snow chains are available to hire for an additional fee and must be requested at time of booking. For online bookings where the pick-up country specified requires snow tyres a charge will normally be added to your reservation and these will be fitted to the vehicle. However, if you are planning to drive cross-border please check country requirements and request equipment be added to your reservation where appropriate by contacting our Call Centre.

We strongly recommend you make your own investigations as to whether or not you will require any additional winter equipment before travelling abroad. The RAC website (www.rac.co.uk/driving-abroad) provides additional information and tips on driving abroad.

Slovakia

Additional Driver Policy

Additional drivers fee is 5.00 EUR per day + vat, with a maximum charge of 25.00 EUR per rental (5 days). Rental conditions apply to all additional drivers. There is no maximum number of additional drivers allowed per rental.

Age Requirements

Minimum rental age is 19 years for car groups EDMR (Economy)-CDMR (Compact). Minimum rental age is 20 years for car groups IDMR (Intermediate)-IWMR (Intermediate Wagon-Estate). Minimum rental age is 25 years for car groups SDMR (Standard)-SFMR (Standard Size 4x4) - FFMR (Full Size 4x4). Maximum rental age is 70 years. Young drivers surcharge is 5.00 EUR per day + vat, for drivers between 19-20 years of age.

Cross Border Policy

Cross border travel is not permitted into Albania, Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Turkey, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, for all car groups. Cross border travel is not permitted into Poland for the IWMR (Intermediate Wagon-Estate) - SDMR (Standard) - SFMR (Standard Size 4x4) car groups. No extra documents are required for cross border rentals. Please be advised that due to a change in law in Germany, it is mandatory for all vehicles crossing the border into Germany to have winter tyres fitted during the Snow & Icy conditions. Customers will be fined on the spot if they are stopped by police and found to not have the appropriate winter tyres.

Delivery / Collection

Delivery and collections are permitted during office hours on request at a cost of 10.00 EUR + vat, within the city limits. There is a charge of 0.70 EUR + vat, for each additional km travelled outside the city limits. Delivery and collections are not available at the following locations: Nove Zamky (BTSE02/72), Povazska Bystrica (ILZS01/71), Zilina Airport (ILZT01/71), Nitra (BTSE01/71) and Kosice DT (KSCC01/71).

Insurance Excess

Collision Damage Waiver & Theft Waiver limits the customer's financial responsibility for loss, damage or theft of the rental vehicle. The maximum excess that is payable in the event of one of these incidents is 1515.00 EUR. The maximum excess will vary depending on the vehicle you are renting, please ask at time of rental for further information on which excess applies.

License Requirements

Customers must present a full and valid driving licence which has been held for a minimum of one year for car groups EDMR (Economy) - CDMR (Compact) and two years for car groups IDMR (Intermediate) - IWMR (Intermediate Wagon-Estate) - SDMR (Standard) - SFMR (Standard Size 4x4). An International driving permit is not required. Should your driving license not be resident to the country of origin of your booking we reserve the right to charge an appropriate rate for your country of residence.

One Way Rentals

One way rentals are permitted for all cars in Slovakia at a charge of 100 EUR + vat except for the following:   From Poprad Airport to Kosice Airport = 60 EUR + vat (and vice versa). From Poprad Airport to Kosice = 60 EUR + vat (and vice versa). From Nitra to Bratislava Airport = 60 EUR + vat (and vice versa). From Nitra to Bratislava = 60 EUR + vat (and vice versa). From Bratislava Vajnorska to Bratislava Airport = Free of charge (and vice versa). From Kosice to Kosice Airport = Free of charge (and vice versa). International one way rentals are not permitted.

Out of Hours Policy

Out of hours charge is 50.00 EUR + vat - On request only.

Payment Policy

All major credit cards are accepted. (American Express/Diners Club/Mastercard/Visa). National vouchers are accepted. National chargecards are accepted. Cash rentals are not accepted. Travellers cheques are not accepted. Eurocheques are not accepted. A credit card is always required for deposits, and the deposit is held on the card until the vehicle is returned. The deposit required is the estimated rental charges plus 20%  + 275.00 EUR.

Refuelling Policy

Europcar will supply you a car with a full tank of petrol. customers must return the car with a full tank of petrol or refuelling charges of 2.00 EUR per litre + vat, will apply. Fuel prices are subject to change at any time.

Roadside Assistance

Roadside assistance is available for all rentals and details will be advised at the start of the rental.

Special Equipment

Child infant seats (CSI) are available at a cost of 25.00 EUR per rental, with a replacement amount of 115.00 EUR. Suitability is 0-12 months or 0-13kgs. Child baby seats (CSB) are available at a cost of 25.00 EUR per rental, with a replacement amount of 115.00 EUR. Suitability is 1-3 years or 9-18kgs. Child toddler seats (CST) are available at a cost of 25.00 EUR per rental, with a replacement amount of 115.00 EUR. Suitability is 4-7 years or 15-30kgs. Child booster seats (BST) are available at a cost of 15.00 EUR per rental, with a replacement amount of 50.00 EUR. Suitability is less than 135cm. Luggage racks (LUG) are available at a cost of 12.00 EUR per day, with a replacement amount of 450.00 EUR. Snow chains (SNO) are available at a cost of 25.00 EUR per rental, with a replacement amount of 75.00 EUR. GPS Navigation systems (NVS) are available at a cost of 7.00 EUR per day, with a replacement amount of 800.00 EUR. This is a portable unit. Winter Equipped Vehicle - (see Winter fee in Surcharges) MANDATORY from 1st November to 15th April (includes Snow Tyres). Security devices are available on freesale and are free of charge with a deposit of 20.00 EUR and include a security jacket and a warning triangle. - Snow tyres - not available - Ski rack/Snow box - not available - Mobile phones - not available Child baby, infant, toddler, booster seats, luggage racks and snow chains are not available at Kosice downtown and Nove Zamky. Customers must provide the age of any child that requires a child seat. Baby seats and security devices are not loaded in the system. If either of these are required please add remarks on the reservation. GPS Navigation systems are portable units and are not available at Povaszka Bystrica, Kosice downtown, Nitra and Nove Zamky. Winter equipped vehicles include snow tyres. All special equipment is available on request. All costs are excluding vat.

Surcharges

Airport surcharge is 15 % + vat. Vehicle licence fee is 2.00 EUR per rental + vat. Winter fee is 2.00 EUR per day + vat. This is a mandatory charge from 1st November to 15th April. Cleaning surcharge is 150.00 EUR + vat, if the customer returns the car back with an extremely dirty interior (paid locally if applicable).
