Popular Hire Destinations

Looking for inspiration? There are many great places to explore in America, but we couldn't possibly talk about them all.

Below are some of our most popular car hire destinations in the USA.

Florida is big on family fun. The white-knuckle rides at Orlando's theme parks; Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World, are its greatest attractions. Great shopping malls and sun-drenched beaches also keep visitors smiling in the sunshine state.

Miami city is a holiday hot spot for beach goers and family entertainment. Pick up your rental car from Miami Airport and drive out to paradise island life along the Florida Keys where you'll find a melting pot of cultures and thriving Cuban-infused foodie scene.

New York entices visitors with its thrilling urban lifestyle. When you're done with city life, pick up one of our USA car hire deals and explore the rest of the state. One day's drive towards the Canadian border will take you to plunging Niagara Falls and the nature lover's playground of 1000 Islands.

California, the golden state boasts Pacific Ocean views along California's Highway 1, America's shiniest cities and the peaks and waterfalls of Yosemite National Park.

The size of the sprawling city of Los Angeles means you'll need a car to get around and our hire location at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) means you'll be joining the glossy crowd of Hollywood and seeing the homes of the stars in no time.

San Francisco's eclectic neighbourhoods include gay-friendly Castro with its village-like shopping, hipster bars and cafes of SoMA and the rich Italian heritage of North Beach. Drive across the famous Golden Gate Bridge or head north to experience Napa Valley wine country.

Las Vegas is the centre for neon lights, rolling dice and erm?Elvis impersonators? When all bets are off, Las Vegas becomes your gateway to the Grand Canyon or Lake Tahoe.

Boston cradles cutting-edge architecture and a cultural calendar almost as colourful as New England's autumn leaves. Take scenic drives throughout Massachusetts to witness the autumn foliage or aim for the sea breeze down at Cape Cod.

Great American Road Trips

Once you've hired a car, the US offers almost unparalleled opportunity for your perfect driving holiday or road trip.

Why not take one of America's iconic scenic routes, the Blue Ridge Parkway, also known as Appalachian Scenic Highway?

Running for 469 miles along the Blue Ridge spine of the Appalachian Mountains, this spectacular route passes through North Carolina and Virginia. Starting on the boundary between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Cherokee Indian Reservation, it winds along, climbing to 3,000 ft in the Black Mountains and 6,000 ft in the Balsam Mountains, always avoiding the Interstate Highway system, to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

Crossing 400 streams and with views down into the valleys, making it possible to see all four seasons at once, the Blue Ridge Parkway is best seen in spring when the rhododendrons and azaleas flower, or in autumn, when the blazing colours of the forest foliage are at their best.

Other great US drives include Route 50, starting at Ocean City in Maryland and stretching over 3,000 miles to West Sacramento, California. The road passes through mountains and deserts and through 12 states. Route 66, running from Chicago to Los Angeles through the Midwest, no longer exists in its original form, but you can drive parts of it.

The Natchez Trace Parkway, from Nashville, Tennessee to Natchez, Mississippi, will let you get a taste of the South and Elvis country, the Great River Road follows the path of the meandering Mississippi. Finally the Pacific Coast Highway and Florida Highway 1 are some of the other spectacular options.

For those travelling to the sunny South West and California, we've put together a number of suggested routes to get you started below.

The American South West

Explore America's South West on a 3-week driving adventure to national parks, Arizona (the heart of historic Route 66) and Native American reserves on a Los Angeles to New Mexico road trip.

California for Families

This 3-day, family road trip takes you on a mini tour around California's beautiful Central Valley. We've packed outdoor fun, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park and a sweet factory into our Californian road trip for families.
